Welcome to Frenchay Community
Frenchay is named after the river Frome which forms its eastern boundary. The name was first recorded in 1257 as 'Fromscawe' and later as 'Fromeshaw', meaning 'the wood on the Frome'. In 1870, W. G. Grace was captain of the village cricket team.
Today we are an active and growing community on the outskirts of Greater Bristol, with lots of green space. Cricket is still played as is tennis, rugby, football and golf. We even have our own local history museum.
