The days are getting shorter and November can be a wet month, so it will be a case of list the jobs to be done and be ready to go to work whenever possible.
Recently I attended an evening talk on bulb planting—very interesting and one or two useful tips were given. But one thing he did say was if you have any snowdrops apart from a potash feed do not clean up around the area, especially of leaves, leave them to rot to act as a mulch! Maybe he hasn’t any slugs or snails!!
Yes, leaves could be a problem this month, so the garden vac could be in good use. I find that if I do not clear up during November its too late in December with Christmas etc. Clearing up and completing any winter digging of borders and vegetable areas will be good preparation for next spring and could be a time saver for then.
If I think my lawn mower should have a service then I would hope by now that any grass cutting for the year will be completed and a good time to arrange for a lawn mower service. After Christmas can be a busy time at a garden machinery workshop—so a case of getting in early.
Finally, I hope to clean out the greenhouse and get the bubblewrap up as some frost protection.
Tip for the month. Prepare your seed list.
