One of the first tasks will be to bring out the garden furniture, oil or paint as appropriate, and hopefully be able to sit out and enjoy the sunshine.
It will also be time to plant out the tomato plants sown earlier. This year I shall be restricting myself to one grow bag outside and one in the greenhouse. As I write, the two Tumbling Toms are well away, having already planted them up in their final pots.
Hopefully I will have had good germination of lettuce, beetroot and carrots. It is also the time to sow runner beans, and succession sowing of marrows and courgettes.
By now it will be time to cut down the leaves of tulips and daffodils and tidy up around those areas.
The lawn will need some attention and if the weather is kind I would hope to scarify it then feed. After last year’s over enthusiasm to “weed and feed” the grass has recovered very well and my moss killing will be restricted to the odd areas.
If not already done it will be time to pot up the troughs on the patio with geraniums. The plugs I bought earlier have come on very well and I look forward to a good show.
Tip for the month….. Look out for pests.
